Released in 2017 by developer 111dot Studios, Garena Free Fire is one of the top five grossing games in the genre, according to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence.
In the last quarter alone it also added 73 million new users across Google Play and the App Store, and saw quarterly revenue increase from $73 million.
Overall, new installs of Garena Free Fire grew 81% year-on-year. Brazil remained the largest source of growth, accounting for 20% or 14.6 million new players.
Developed by an internal studio, Free Fire was released in 2017 and has since built a strong audience in Latin America and south east Asia.
In addition it was the highest grossing mobile game in India on the Google Play Store in October, and one of the top five most downloaded games globally across all app stores during Q3 2019.
Brazil was also the highest grossing region for the game, accounting for 31% of revenue, or $27.9 million.
However, the revenue share of Brazil was actually down from 44% in Q4 2018, thanks to increases from regions like Thailand and the US.
Thailand accounted for the second largest portion of revenue at 11% or about $9.9 million.
Meanwhile, the US was the fourth largest region for revenue, grossing $8.5 million for the period, or about 9.4 percent. The share of revenue more than doubled from around 4% in Q4 2018.

Last quarter’s total player spending represented an increase of 18 percent from the title’s previous quarterly record of $76 million generated in Q4 2018. According to our data, Brazil accounted for the single largest portion of this, at about 31 percent or approximately $27.9 million of the total. Its share of spending was down from about 44 percent in 4Q18.
Brazil was also the largest source of new installs for the game in Q1, accounting for about 20 percent or 14.6 million of the 73 million players who downloaded it for the first time last quarter. Overall, new installs of Garena Free Fire grew 81 percent year-over-year.
India was the title’s second largest market for new players in Q1 at 16 percent or about 11.7 million, followed by Indonesia at 14 percent or roughly 10.2 million first-time downloads. The U.S. was the game’s thirteenth largest market by installs at about 1.5 percent of new players added.
